Rocking this new world of the multi-hyphenate the best way I can!

MEET KENNEY GREEN-TILFORD

I am a native of Fresno California who has called New York City his home for over 20 years. From October of 2018 to October of 2022, I was fortunate enough to serve as the Producing Artistic Director of The Depot Theatre in the Adirondacks of upstate New York, bringing gender and racial diversity into modern theatre. As an actor and a musician, I "cut my teeth" has performing in numerous national and international tours, regional theatres, festivals, and concerts. As an accomplished director and choreographer of many regional productions throughout the United States, I then found good fortune by returning to my old stomping grounds and joined the faculty at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy.  I am a proud member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, Screen Actors Guild and Actors' Equity Association.  Kenney currently rides with his husband, composer/musician Adam Tilford, in Harlem.

The time is 1959. The place is a seedy bar in Philadelphia. The audience is about to witness one of Billie Holiday’s last performances, given four months before her death. More than a dozen musical numbers are interlaced with salty and often humorous reminiscences to project a riveting portrait of the lady and her music.  Kenney is thrilled to be making is Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera debut playing Jimmy powers in this wonderful, breathtaking piece by Lanie Roberts.

EVeRYBODY'S  TALKIN'  ABOUT  KENNEY

Elliot Wasserman.jpg

"What has impressed me... throughout all of the work we have done is the focus Kenney always places on the story the play presents. He listens carefully to what I believe a scene is trying to display and sets his goals in pursuit of that vision. He is not afraid to disagree, but he never makes light of the primary responsibility of the show to tell a story."

Julie Lucido.jpg

"[Kenney's] enthusiasm and dedication to the performing arts is contagious, and he carries with him such tremendous knowledge on all aspects of theater. Whether on-stage or off, from leading production teams to envisioning what 'could be' I would highly recommend him"

"In addition to becoming a dear friend, Kenney has proven to be a trusted collaborator. Early, ready to work and about the art is how he shows up on the regular. And it doesn't hurt that he can do some of EVERYTHING (act, sing, dance, play multiple instruments, choreograph, direct, teach, produce, design, and support with serious tech/IT skills). I don't call him my show husband for nothin’!"
