Rocking this new world of the multi-hyphenate the best way I can!
MEET KENNEY M. gREEN
I am a native of Fresno California who has called New York City his home for over 20 years. From October of 2018 to October of 2022, I was fortunate enough to serve as the Producing Artistic Director of The Depot Theatre in the Adirondacks of upstate New York, bringing gender and racial diversity into modern theatre. As an actor and a musician, I "cut my teeth" has performing in numerous national and international tours, regional theatres, festivals, and concerts. As an accomplished director and choreographer of many regional productions throughout the United States, I then found good fortune by returning to my old stomping grounds and joined the faculty at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy. I am a proud member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, Screen Actors Guild and Actors' Equity Association. Kenney currently rides with his husband, composer/musician Adam Tilford, in Harlem.
NEWS & UPDATES
This summer I had the amazing opportunity to spend three weeks in the woods directing the 14-16 year old campers in Disney's HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL. The Vanguard Theatre brings these young adults from all walks of life, with different backgrounds to "disconnect to connect" with each other. In doing so, and before you know it, they've formed life-long bonds all while receving the tools they needs to move forward in life...AND THEN THEY PUT ON A SLAMMING SHOW! This was one for the books and I am thankful to VTC for welcoming be on board. Pics and some videos to come soon-ish...for now follow this link and check out what they got coming down the pike.
Get out your tap shoes, Francis. FLORIDA STUDIO THEATRE is doing a show!!! Yes, that show will be LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS. I do love audition days. I am excited to take on the role of Casting Associate for this production which will be going up this Fall. This is just the beginning! Still sitting on a contract or two so..."mum's" the word. HOWEVER...
It's going to be a season of love and I am super thrilled to be returning to TITUSVILLE PLAYHOUSE to work on three major productions! Up first, a brand new play entitled FEARLESS: THE HARRY T. MOORE STORY! Based on the life and times of Harry T. and Harriett V. Moore. An amazing retelling of the night of December 25, 1951 with history that has happened in our own backyard. The play tells the story of that eventful night and the ramifications that sparked from that evening. Presented in cooperation with the Moore Cultural Complex and Museum we are very proud to present this moving and relevant play to our community.
After FEARLESS, we jump into s show with a little more "octane"! Beautiful: The Carol King Musical! Not only do I get to come back home to Indiana for a couple of weeks to choreograph this Rocking and rolling show. It's fast paced, with a hint of love.
And, the last show we wi'll be auditioning for Kartori Hall's masterpiece of a play = THE MOUNTAINTOP. I am definitely looking forward to sinking my teeth in to these roles again.
EVeRYBODY'S TALKIN' ABOUT KENNEY
"What has impressed me... throughout all of the work we have done is the focus Kenney always places on the story the play presents. He listens carefully to what I believe a scene is trying to display and sets his goals in pursuit of that vision. He is not afraid to disagree, but he never makes light of the primary responsibility of the show to tell a story."
"[Kenney's] enthusiasm and dedication to the performing arts is contagious, and he carries with him such tremendous knowledge on all aspects of theater. Whether on-stage or off, from leading production teams to envisioning what 'could be' I would highly recommend him"
“Kenney is a great collaborator a passionate musical director - and a truthful and inventive actor.”
New Harmony Theatre
& Junior Company
"In addition to becoming a dear friend, Kenney has proven to be a trusted collaborator. Early, ready to work and about the art is how he shows up on the regular. And it doesn't hurt that he can do some of EVERYTHING (act, sing, dance, play multiple instruments, choreograph, direct, teach, produce, design, and support with serious tech/IT skills). I don't call him my show husband for nothin’!"
